Free room hire, Sunday to Thursday. Really.
Book the Sugar Glider Gallery any Sunday to Thursday night and the room costs you nothing — just a minimum bar spend, which you were going to do anyway. Whole floor to yourselves, your own bar tab, our crew running it.
The room
Upstairs at the Possum, the Sugar Glider Gallery is a proper space with its own personality — a big, light-filled room (9.2m × 6m, lofty 3.5m ceilings) with rotating shows from local artists on the walls. 32 seated, 60 standing, and everything downstairs sends up: the 12 taps, the full cocktail list (including the non-alcoholic one), and burgers by the trayload.
It's hosted birthdays, work parties, corporate presentations, art openings and comedy nights that got out of hand in the best way. It'll host yours.
How it works
Sunday to Thursday: free room hire with a $500 minimum bar spend — everything you spend at the venue counts towards it. That's the whole deal. (If you fall short, the difference comes back to you as a venue voucher — so it's never money down the drain.)
Securing a date: no deposit — just card details to lock it in. Cancel inside 48 hours or no-show and there's a $399 charge, so tell us early if plans change.
Make it yours: decorate away (the artwork stays on the walls, everything else is fair game). Canapé menus from oysters and Bloody Mary oyster shots to wings, poppers and burger spreads — see the Function Pack PDF.
Drinks: tab, subsidised tab, or cash bar — your call. Non-drinkers are properly catered for, not tolerated.
Good to know: the bar and toilets are downstairs, so your guests will need to manage a flight of stairs between refuels.
Friday and Saturday nights the whole venue's in full swing, so the Gallery rests — for weekend options, talk to us about smaller group bookings.

Five minutes from UTS, ten from Central and Sydney Uni — which is why student societies, uni departments and half the co-working spaces of Chippendale end up upstairs. End-of-semester, EOFY, product launch, someone survived another year: all valid reasons.
