What's on at the Possum
Live music — Saturdays from 7pm, free
Local indie bands every Saturday night, curated by Vandida. No cover, no ticket, just turn up. This week: [BAND NAME — updated weekly]. → /live-music
Meet the Brewer — fortnightly Thursdays, 6pm
Every second Thursday an independent Aussie brewer takes over taps and answers questions they've definitely heard before. Next one: [DATE + BREWERY — updated fortnightly]. Free entry, beers priced as marked.
Happy hour — every day, 4–6pm
Some bars hide their happy hour on a Tuesday. Ours runs 4–6pm every day we're open — Monday to Saturday, rain, shine or semester.
The deal
Free beer upsize — pay for the small one, drink the big one. Works on our independent Aussie taps, which makes it the best-value craft beer within cooee of Central.
$12 Margaritas — pick your flavour. Yes, twelve dollars. Yes, a proper one.
$7 house wine — Australian, obviously.
$9 natty wine — the Doom Juice, for the orange-wine people (we see you, Chippendale).
Why this is the best two hours in Chippendale
You're ten minutes' walk from Central, five from UTS, and about ninety seconds ahead of everyone still pretending to work at their co-working space. Knock off, wander over, get a proper independent craft beer for the price of a bad one somewhere else.
Stay past six and you've timed it perfectly anyway: the kitchen runs till 11pm, and on Saturdays the band starts at seven. Students — your $16 burger-and-bowl deal runs all hours, so happy hour beer plus a $16 burger is about as good as this city gets.
No booking needed for happy hour; groups on a weeknight, see Functions.
Lunch deal — midday–4pm, Mon–Sat
Every burger and bowl $18 — and $16 with a student card, any time we're open. → /menu/food
